Brain Eating Amoeba in the Water? What filter should I use?

We were so troubled to learn about the folks in Lake Jackson, Texas, have been ingesting brain eating amoeba from their water supply.. Our hearts go out to their families. Access to fresh, and clean, water is paramount for every family. The best and most complete filtration you can get is Reverse Osmosis.   But what about standard micron filters?  The smallest Cysts are about 4-5 microns in diameter, so any carbon block filter that is cyst rated by NSF will remove amoeba.   Below is a table of the size of the various amoeba that are harmful to humans.   You can see that the 0.5 micron rating of the carbon block filters in the Essential Systems and Jumbo essentials will easily filter amoeba.
