Scaling in your RV’s water heater and plumbing fixtures can cause the need for costly repairs.
“Lime Scaling” is usually caused by the presence of high amounts of dissolved
calcium/magnesium in the water, otherwise known as “hardwater”, and can be identified by the
white crust/film the is left on your faucet or on your dishes.
There are essentially two options for preventing limescale in your RV.
1. Use of a water softener, such as our Essential Portable 16K Grain Water Softener [P/N
E4112] which is able to remove dissolved calcium and magnesium from water sources
using an ion exchange process.
2. Use of a phosphate filter, such as our Anti-Scale Carbon Filter [P/N A1401]. This filter
adds a small amount of phosphate into your water supply. The phosphate essentially
coats your metal plumbing fixtures and does not allow the calcium/magnesium to stick.
Although the water is still going to have the dissolved calcium/magnesium, the negative
effects of hard water will be mitigated, preventing costly repairs.
